Mission, Vision, Philosophy

Our Mission

The Mentoring Path provides skill-building and life-long mentoring relationships, building bonds of respect, understanding, and joy between generations.

Our Vision

Our trained staff and engaging curriculum will serve young men 16 years and older as they seek independence and to understand their life missions.

Our Philosophy

Many young men today face challenges because they are not around positive male role models who can help them make wise choices. Mentorship can make a difference for young adults, which is why we choose the late teens as the focus of our efforts.

We want to help young men get a good head start on their life and career paths.  Every man needs to feel confident that they are a valued member of society that wants them to enjoy their life and care for the planet.

Our History

Our team has roots in the ManKind Project, Boys to Men, an international organization for mentoring boys, and The Alternatives to Violence Project, which works in prisons and youth detention centers. Some have made careers in teaching, counseling, and coaching youth, while others have been successful in business.

Our Future

While 2023 will be our inaugural program, our team has been involved in various camps and camp-like experiences for years. Our long-term vision is to develop a year-round mentoring program for high schools.

Our summer program and school mentoring focus is complementary to The ManKind Project, an organization that provides support for men looking at issues in their lives that hold them back, as well has helping them develop their gifts and capacity for leadership. Our program is also a good fit for Alternatives to Violence Project volunteers of all ages who have gained experience working with the incarcerated who have the misfortune of not having a mentor in their lives when it was most needed.

In our first program we have one Module titled “Women in Our Lives.” Our intention is to involve more women in the overall program in 2024, providing an important balance and positive female role models needed by both boys and girls.

Safety will be a top priority. Our core staff will receive safety training, background checks, and First Aid CPR qualification. In addition, our program will help fill a vital need for youth to feel seen and respected by adult men who remember their challenges as a teen.
